In the initial validation stage of the Ninja Thirsti Max project, my team and I explored the core foundations of our product.
The videos capture some of the flow testing I carried out, which helped shape key decisions around the direction, speed, and delivery of the beverage being dispensed. This stage was especially enjoyable, as it gave us a wide scope for fresh ideas and plenty of room for experimentation.
2.Invent

Throughout the Thirsti Max journey, we encountered several challenges, one of the most significant being the speed of dispense. I was tasked with reducing this as much as possible, so I developed a design that channelled the water towards the funnel’s drain.
This greatly reduced the dispense time by 55% and enhanced user satisfaction when compared to the original Thirsti machine.

The experimentation stage of the project involved extensive user interaction testing. These videos highlight several prototypes I created to explore different methods of removing the mixing funnel for cleaning. I tested these with colleagues in the office to gather feedback and iterate towards the most valued design.

This stage of the product’s development involved rigorous testing — essentially pushing it to its limits and refining the design to ensure maximum robustness. The process included drop tests from various heights, water exposure trials, and applying additional pressure to key touchpoints.

5. Refine
As we moved towards the final design, it was fascinating to look back and compare it with an earlier prototype. As shown in the video, the machine on the right finishes dispensing more quickly than the one on the left. A key factor in this improvement is that, in my design, the water exits the funnel faster, enabling us to meet our key performance requirement of making the dispense as efficient as possible.
